Management Trainee Program

Oberoi Group - Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development(OCLD)

The management Trainee Program provided by The Oberoi Group also goes by the name OCLD or The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and has been in existence since 1966. It has been rated to be the best in Asia. The duration of their program is for 18-24 months which include classroom education as well as hands on experience at Oberoi and Trident Hotels.

The selection process of candidates is through campus interviews in various colleges or the aspirants can apply for a walk-in interview.

They also provide accommodation, meals while on duty, medical insurance and uniforms.

Selected candidates are also paid a competitive monthly allowance during the training period.


Candidate should be above the age of 19 and below the age of 25, as on 1st of July of the year of joining the program.

You don’t need a Hotel Management Degree to apply for this program, you can apply if you have degree in any stream. For those who apply for the Kitchen Management Program, the graduates require a degree in Hotel Management.

Taj Hotel - Taj Management trainee program (tmtp)

The Taj group of hotels offers the Taj Management Trainee Program (TMTP). It can be compared to an MBA in hospitality. A management trainee has scope of becoming a general manager, once he has been through different functions of a hotel such as Human resources, Sales, Food & Beverage and Front Office. The duration of the program is for 18months. The first 12 months the Management trainee under goes on the job training with theoretical exposure to fundamentals. The other 6 months are for gaining knowledge regarding Development, Architectural appreciation, Human Resources, Materials Management and Accommodation. For 6 months trainees work as shadow managers/ shadow chef.

They provide a different Management trainee Program for Culinary aspirants. It is called the TMTP-Food Production Program. This program trains the professionals with culinary skills as well as the ability to manage and run a kitchen. The commencement of this program is from October/November of each year. It is a 18month long program in which they are taught about international cuisines.

The Housekeeping Executive Development Program (HEDP)HEDP is a one-year long program. The recruitment for this program starts from the month of October or November of each year. During the first 6 months they are given on the job training with technical knowledge in classrooms. They are taught about interiors, fabrics and styling, finance, human resources and Architectural design. The next 6months they work under the mentoring of the executive housekeeper.

Marriott Hotels - voyage

Voyage is the name of the Management Trainee Program provided by Marriott hotels all aorund the world. The program lasts for 12-18months depending on the area or discipline chosen and the country in which the program is provided.

They hire 500-800 voyagers each year from around the world.

They hire trainees for all the departments of hotel.


Graduated from a university or hotel school within the last year

 Bachelor’s degree or higher-level education (associate’s degree acceptable for Culinary only)

Proficiency in written & spoken English

 Permanent work authorization in the country where you are applying

Accor hotel - inspire

The management Trainee Program provided by Accor, goes by the name of “Inspire”. The duration of the program lasts for 12-18 months.

This program offers a choice between 2 options, first being cross-structure exposure which is exposure by rotating between all departments and then moving focus to one department. The other being a specialization in a particular department. A personal mentor is appointed in both programs.


Minimum 1-year cumulative experience in hospitality/customer service, or in specific chosen area

Post-secondary education (i.e., diploma, degree) in Hospitality or Business an asset, but all candidates are considered

Excellent communication skills in English (+other language requirements, as applicable)

ITC Hotels - Graduate hospitality program

The ITC Hospitality Management Institute or ITC HMI offers Graduate Hospitality Program or GHP to graduates belonging to hospitality as well as non-hospitality backgrounds. It is a two year long program, with on-the-job training.

Eligibility criteria

·         Passed graduation from a recognized college or university from any discipline.

·         Minimum of 65% aggregate.

·         Final year students are also eligible.

·         Minimum age of 20 years and maximum age of 26 years as on August 01 of the year of commencement.
